The journey of infertility is a hard one and everyone’s experience with it is unique. Starfish Infertility Foundation was created so you don’t have to go through it alone. We provide grants to help pay for infertility treatments, as well as any support we can offer. Along with the news of infertility generally comes questions, so many questions. Here are some of the most recent questions we have received on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Question: Where does the money for the grants come from? Donors? Fundraising? Answer: All of the above! We host a couple of events each year, as well as accept donations throughout the year! 100% goes to the foundation. All board members (including our founders) serve as volunteers!

Question: Have you personally met each baby born into the Starfish family? Do you stay in contact with all of them? P.S. what you guys do is amazing.
Answer: Yes, I have! I am actually a newborn photographer, so I have been extra blessed to be able to capture all of the babies for the new parents so far!! I try not to overstep when it comes to contact, but I love following all of them and their little ones!!!
Question: Why does it cost so much to do IVF?
Answer: Most people don’t realize that not all insurance covers Infertility. In fact, only 15 states mandate any sort of coverage at all! I’m in TN, so we were 100% out of pocket!
Just the medicine alone can cost up to $5,000 for one round. Then you have to pay for multiple blood draws, sonograms, Dr. appointments, egg retrieval, ICSI if done, embryologist to fertilize your eggs, transfer of the embryo or embryos and the freezing of embryos if needed.
Question: Who is eligible to apply?
Answer: The Braxton grant is available to anyone in the US without Infertility provisions through their insurance. The clinic being used must be a member of sart.org as well.
Question: On average, how many entries do you typically get for your grants? Thanks for your generous gift! It will change someone’s whole world!
Answer: It all depends! On average, I would say 15-20!
