Lay Day 2021!!!!

st

The Family Business: Whitt’s BBQ has been a Nashville tradition since March 1978, when Bill and Peggy Dean opened the first location in Antioch, TN.  With the help of the 2nd generation, they have grown to 11 Nashville locations, 15 sub-franchises, and grandchildren are now in the business. Leighton: Tragically, in September 2013, Leighton Williams (one of the third generation) passed away in a weather related car accident on the way home from college.  Her mom says Leighton had a zeal for life that was infectious.  She had a heart of absolute service to her fellow man, and to Jesus Christ.  She also absolutely LOVED children.  That’s why, every October for her birthday, ALL SALES and donations received at the Whitt’s BBQ Hermitage location are donated to children’s charities in Leighton’s name.

Starfish Infertility Foundation: Baby Addison: We have been SO honored to be one of the recipients of Lay Day, and started the Leighton Grant in her honor.  In October 2020, I introduced you to baby Carson.  A beautiful little boy gone too soon, and parents in a pain most of us cannot imagine.  After two unsuccessful transfers, their dream was to be able to find the funds to transfer their final embryo, and bring a new life into this world.  I am SO happy to celebrate the birth of sweet little rainbow baby Addison Anne in August!!!  What an absolute light and joy she has filled her parents with!!  I have NO doubt she has two very special angels watching over her!!  Welcome to the world Addison!!!   Baby Logan: Because of the generosity of those who participated in Lay Day, we were actually able to award grants to TWO couples!  Meet Allison and Josh!!  A local couple desperately trying for years to grow their family.  They bravely shared their story of struggle and hope one day last year, and were overcome with emotion when we were able to give them some financial help for their next round of IVF.  In a strange “small world” twist, Allison’s cousin actually knew Leighton from playing ball…..how AWESOME is THAT?!?!?!?!?  After a successful cycle and transfer, baby Logan was on his way!!!  Just over a week ago, this beautiful family of two officially became a family of three!!

Leighton’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of so many family and friends, but I like to think a little part of her will also live on in the lives that have been created because of her.  I can think of no  better gift or legacy for someone who so dearly loved children.  Please join us tomorrow (October 16) at the Hermitage Whitt’s BBQ location for Lay Day 2021!  Can’t make it, mail it! No stamp? Venmo @Kelly-Hollister-4    It’s a day to eat some amazing BBQ (my son’s absolutely FAVORITE) or donate a few dollars in celebration of this very special and loved girl, who is still so desperately missed by so many.  #LoveLikeLay
